For a multitude of marine life, it is sound and the ability to hear that are critical. Tom Smith explains the impact of noise pollution in the ocean and what is being done to combat it.
Stand Up for Our Oceans Maldives Expedition Update!
In February 2019, four women completed an unprecedented stand up paddle-boarding (SUP) expedition in Baa Atoll in the Maldives. Backed by Ocean Ambassdors and a number of other organisations, their mission was to raise awareness of the need to protect marine life from the threat of plastic pollution and climate change.

In a major policy shift, Japan formally announced on December 26, 2018 that it would withdraw from the International Whaling Commission (IWC) and resume commercial whaling for the first time in more than 30 years.

Professor Madeleine Van Oppen of the Australian Institute of Marine Science is developing heat resistant corals; the Ethiopian agronomist Gebisa Ejeta from Purdue University, USA is engineering drought and pest resistant crops; and Kathy Niakin leads a team at the Crick Institute, UK and is the first scientist worldwide to get national level approval to use CRISPR to edit the DNA of human embryos.
They join Razia Iqbal and a public audience at the Natural History Museum in London to discuss important and ground-breaking work.
